Positions: Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Assistant
Location: Shenzhen, China
2. Qualifications and Responsibilities
2.1 Postdoctoral Researcher
Research area: Rural transport electrification
- Demonstrated integrity, a genuine passion for research, and a diligent and rigorous approach to work, with a strong commitment to academic integrity;
- A PhD in a field related to transportation engineering, transportation economics, travel behaviour, public policy, sociology, psychology, or a related discipline;
- At least one high-quality article published in a leading journal, such as a journal in the Transportation Research series, Transport Policy, Journal of Transport Geography, Transportation, or Research in Transportation Economics;
- Proficiency in Python, R, and/or Stata;
- Experience with data collection and analysis for stated-preference (SP) and revealed-preference (RP) surveys, as well as the administration and analysis of psychometric scales;
- Applicants must meet Peking University’s eligibility requirements for postdoctoral appointments and commit to full-time postdoctoral research throughout the appointment.
2.2 Research Assistant
Research area: Urban and transport studies
- Demonstrated integrity, a genuine passion for research, and a diligent and rigorous approach to work, with a strong commitment to academic integrity;
- Academic training or research experience in transport studies, particularly travel behaviour or transport economics; urban studies, particularly public policy or urban governance; economics; social psychology; political science; or a related field;
- Proficiency in Python, R, Stata, or comparable research tools;
- The successful candidate will primarily contribute to research on urban and transport policy and assist team members with research-project reports, data processing, and related tasks;
- A proactive and responsible approach to work, attention to detail, patience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to teamwork and collaborative research.
3. Compensation and Benefits
3.1 Postdoctoral Researcher
- A postdoctoral appointment normally lasts two years. Annual compensation is RMB 300,000–340,000, including a base annual salary of RMB 120,000 before tax and a Shenzhen municipal living allowance of RMB 180,000 per year for two years;
- Postdoctoral researchers who remain in Shenzhen after completing their appointment and sign an employment contract of at least three years with a local company or public-sector institution may apply for Shenzhen municipal research funding totalling RMB 300,000. Subject to individual eligibility, postdoctoral researchers may also apply, either during their appointment or after completing it and remaining in Shenzhen, for relevant Shenzhen talent awards and allowances starting at RMB 1.6 million. All such funding and allowances are subject to the latest eligibility criteria and policies issued by the Shenzhen municipal authorities;
- The research group will assist postdoctoral researchers in applying for university housing or talent housing, or provide a housing subsidy.
3.2 Research Assistant
- Research assistants are appointed under an employment contract. Compensation is competitive and negotiable;
- The research group provides access to high-resolution research datasets and high-performance computing resources;
- Outstanding research assistants may be recommended for applications to master’s or doctoral programmes at Peking University.
